
Phil Wood is an Emmy-nominated cinematographer based in the UK, working in television drama and film.
His credits include major productions such as Doctor Who, Endeavour, Cobra, and After the Flood. He recently completed shooting the ITV crime thriller The Blame, as well as the feature-length television drama Unforgivable, written by Jimmy McGovern. His work frequently involves shooting entire series and establishing the photographic language across long-form productions.
Alongside his main unit cinematography, he has also worked as second unit cinematographer on major international productions including Outlander and Blood of My Blood.
Phil received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for the Netflix drama Free Rein. He was also Director of Photography on the Oscar and BAFTA nominated short film The Voorman Problem.
Originally from Canada, Phil trained at the Northern Film School, where he developed his foundation shooting on Super 16mm film. He works across both film and digital formats and has extensive experience shooting on location in the UK and internationally.
He works closely with directors and showrunners to develop a visual approach that supports performance, tone, and narrative.
Phil holds both UK and Canadian passports and works internationally.
